Can you see me?

I literally feel like I am putting out spot fires everyday.

Not a second goes by that something doesn't need fixing/coaching/coaxing/caring for.

What is it in me that feels this need?

Is it good for me to allow myself to feel it?

Is giving 100% the same as doing my best, or is that something only mediocre people say to feel better?

Sometimes I don't even like praying. I have become so dependent on my own deeds that I believe prayer is a waste of time. If I am being honest, there hasn't been many prayers that I have seen work out the way I had asked for. Not that those prayers weren't taken care of but that I was looking for the wrong signs.

Is belief the opposite of want?

My life according to Radiohead

Using only song names from ONE ARTIST, cleverly answer these questions. Questions are in bold.
Let me know who you choose.
You can't use the band I used. Try not to repeat a song title, but feel free to use more than one song per question if you think it applies.
It's a lot harder than you think!

What's hiding in your closet?

Talked with my buddy/boss/awesomnator @bdeffenbacher about life. I came to a hault when we started talking about my junk, getting dirty in my gutter with some people I need to make peace with.

I started to realize I had more stuff in my closet than I ever wanted to admit too. I have found that the more I push into God and his transforming power, the more I need to drag things out of my closet and give them to good will.
This usually happens within the context of community.

Thanks Brent for listening.

Some differences between Greek and Hebrew ways of thinking

I came across a very cool page talking about the differences of thinking between Greeks and Hebrews. The site correlates certain differences in thoughts of life, God and truth.
We here in the western world view things in the Greek manner, meaning, "If I can prove it, I can believe it."
One of their pairings is with the subject of "Faith".

Greeks: See faith as intellectual. They express faith in creeds and doctrine, listing proof texts to support their beliefs.
Hebrews: See faith as relational and personal. They express faith in terms of their relationship with God rather than as a rationalization.

Which one did you identify with the most?

I can tell you I want to sync up with the Hebrew way, don't know exactly why but as I grow in my Christian spirituality, I feel a draw towards the relational and personal instead of the rational.

How great is it than to view this with the understanding that God chose us to be the medium to share his story?
That we, with our words and deeds can create building blocks for people to put into their ever rotating fractal view of who God is, who he really is.

Yahweh

Here's to telling great stories.

Obama speech with a an AR-15

"Because I can do it,"
This is what the man said when asked why he was walking around at the Healthcare rally in Arizona.

Scott Wong/The Arizona Republic

A man, who decided not to give his name, was walking around the pro-health care reform rally at 3rd and Washington streets, with a pistol on his hip, and an AR-15 (a semi-automatic assault weapon) on a strap over his shoulder.

People or Buildings

When people say "I Love the Church" do they mean the building or the people?
My thought is that most mean the building because people are so hard to love.

I am being transformed.

Church work is hard. Harder than most jobs. Why do I do it?
I could go play with the big boys and make way more money, have way more power and essentially be better off.
I could write songs that change the world.
I could write a book that changes you.

I could, I could, I could.

But I want to make a difference.
I want to want to see people transformed by the power of Christ.
I want to be the man I am destined to be through that transforming renewal that only Christ can bring.
I want to see the Church become a healthy representation of Christ's love and righteousness.

But I fear that my actions will not make a difference when confronted with the enormous expanse of darkness.
I fear my soul gets lost all to often.
I fear that though I claim to "know" Christ, I deny Him His rightful spot in my being.
I fear that I will be exposed as someone who say's "Yes" with their hands, and murders with their words.

I am being transformed.

Are you?
